What are the benefits to a crank machine rather than a drop-weight machine?

Are crank machines just faster? Are they more accurate? Can drop-weight machines reach 100% tension accuracy when used correctly? Can someone suggest a drop-weight machine for under 300 dollars to me?

I started out on a drop-weight machine, and although it's cheaper, it just doesn't do the accuracy justice, because with different types of string, you need to get a different feel for how far to drop the weight. I would definitely recommend a crank machine, a lot easier and much more accurate.
