We just had laminate wood floors installed...can we have a leather office chair that rolls directly on it? We have these floors in the office of our home. We had carpet in there and had one of those thick plastic mats on the carpet so you could actually roll the chair over the carpet. That particular mat has hard pegs of plastic covering the backside so it will dig into the carpet and stay put. We obviously can't use that on out new floors. My question...will the wheels of the office chair damage the new flooring? Should I put something down to protect them? If so, do they make a mat with NO hard pegs on the back...one esp made for wood floors?
How do I clean and touch up the wood chairs? I just purchased wood chairs from a chinese restraunant that have polyurethane and soy sauce on them. I already used pine sol and a scrubie sponge. It took most of the grime off, but they are still sticky. Should I continue or should I stop and use something else? I just want to make sure I'm not damaging the wood before I get a chance to enjoy them.

Ok, my 2 uncles, my cousin and i are all working on a 2000 Plymouth Voyager with a 2.4 litter engine and its not starting. now one was a pro mechanic and the other two are rebuilding another car so they know what they are doing. now one thing we are questioning is the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft position sensor. can anyone tell us what they look like and what they do?
How can I hold a crankshaft pulley in order to get the bolt loose? I'm so close to accessing the timing belt on my 88 accord. Last step is to remove the crankshaft pulley but I can't loosen the bolt. Can someone tell me how to hold the pulley tight while trying to unscrew the pulley bolt? this car is an automatic so the crankshaft just spins. How can I lock the crankshaft or pulley in order to get this bolt loose?
How do I install the crankshaft position sensor? I have found out recently through diagnostics that I need to replace the crankshaft position sensor. Has anyone done this before? I don't think I can get to it from the hood. Do I have to get underneath the car? If it helps, I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have a Chilton, but it doesn't tell me if I have to remove other things to get to it.
What is the purpose of the crankshaft position sensor? I was driving my car yesterday when it all of a sudden came to a complete stop in the middle of the road. I tried to restart it. How do I take out a briggs crankshaft? I need to remove the crankshaft from a 8hp briggs engine so that my friend can add a keyway for me (the engine was made for a generator - no clutch). I can't find anything online so far, and I'm afraid that if I start hacking away I'll compromise the engine's integrity somehow. Any tips would be appreciated.
How much will it cost to replace the crankshaft on my Snapper Lawnmower? It's a Snapper Push-Mower, and I hit a pipe and I think I bent the crankshaft. How much will it cost to repair? I don't think the engine itself is damaged, because I got it to start, it just makes the whole mower shake uncontrollably (so I quickly switched it off). I think it's just a bent crankshaft, which is causing the blade to oscillate instead of turn on center.
Do crankshaft pulley bolts break during removal very often? I have to remove a crankshaft pulley on a Mazda 626 - 4 cyl. It is so tight that I could not get it to break free, and I am considering using a pneumatic impact wrench, but I am nervous about the bolt twisting off. Can someone please describe the location of the crankshaft position sensor on a 2003 Nissan Altima? I purchased the sensor after the OBD II equipment stated that there was a problem with it, and replaced a sensor that is exactly the same on the drivers side. I have a feeling that I got the camshaft sensor and not the one with the problem, therefore I need to know where the crankshaft sensor is so I can replace the right one. Dealership confirmed that the part number for both is the same but could not give me a diagram or help on the location... Thanks in advance! 2.5L engine Thanks to everyone that replied... I found and replaced the sensor. o Confirmed that camshaft & crankshaft position sensors are the same. o Crankshaft position sensor is a lot more difficult to replace as it is hidden under the engine and very difficult to access from both under the car & from under the hood. o Be careful with the connector to the sensor. Since you don't see the connector at any time and the clip is different to the camshaft sensor you can break the connector. I broke mine and had to find another connector at the dealership and adapt it by cutting and soldering 3 wires.
How much would it cost to fix/replace a crankshaft in a 2000 Sonata? My check engine light came on, but went off 2 days later. When I was able to get it to a shop for a diagnostic they said it came up as a crankshaft problem and that I should probably have my timing belt replaced when they did it. They quoted me $600. Does that sound about right?
How much does a crankshaft for a fourwheeler cost? I have a 2000 model 325 Polaris Magnum fourstroke. I took it to the shop to see what was wrong with it and they said I needed a new crankshaft. I need to know how to line up crankshaft with camshaft for correct timing? Renault Megane 2003. Trying to help a friend short on cash. The crank pulley was in 2 pieces. I was a qualified mechanic many years ago & thought this would be easy. Can't believe with todays technology that by taking off the crank pulley, the crankshaft can turn & camshaft does not. I only hope that valves have not been bent as I used the cranking of the engine to loosen nut on crank pulley. I know I am getting close to being lined up but just want to know correct procedure.
Where can I find the crankshaft for a 93 Isuzu Rodeo? Hi, My engine/motor froze up and when I turn the key, it acts as if it wants to start then it dies. This was caused from driving with no motor oil. Everything inside works but the motor want turn over. I'm not sure where to locate the crankshaft to try to turn it over manually.
What is a crankshaft? & physics alevel question? Have to answer a question on whether a piston in a car engine on a short connecting rod to the crankshaft, executing circular motion, is executing simple harmonic motion or not. How easy is replacing a Crankshaft? I am a highschool student who wants to become a mechanic eventually and im wondering how easy it is to replace a crankshaft on a 1991 Honda civic.
How can I tell if my crankshaft is broken? This started a year ago. I came home from a 30 minute drive in my car, put it in park and then the engine started to shake the whole car slightly. It smoothed out and then a "ticking" sound started coming from the engine. I immediately turned the engine off and checked the oil (because it had a bad oil leak which leaked about 1 quart of oil/a week). Apparently the oil leak had gotten worse. It was completely empty after I had filled it up a couple days before this all happened. After sitting for 9 months, I finally got some extra time to look at the engine. my friend told me it could be the valve lifters? So I added more oil, topped it off and started it up. I think the gas went to varnish because it stank and took a while to start. After getting it to start up, I let it idle for about 5 minutes. The "ticking" noise was still there and after 5 minutes, it went to a "clunking" noise. The "ticking" and "clunking" noise were both at the same speed as each other. Is the crankshaft broke? I'm not sure if an '89 Toyota Corolla DX with 193,000 miles is worth putting another engine in. LOL, $1600 for a new engine. thanx for the answers. I'm thinking about rebuilding it once I start going to school soon for my ASE certification.
How do I replace a front (crankshaft) oil seal? How do I replace a front oil seal at the crankshaft on my engine? What is the best way to remove the old seal? How do I press in the new seal? Are there any safe short cuts? What should I be careful of? Before you tell me to have a mechanic or guy do it, you should know I like doing this stuff. I successfully replaced the oil pan gaskets, water pump, alternator, and a half-axle. (I can cook and sew too!) It's time to move ahead. Any tips for a little 5 ft & 102 lb Asian girl with a lot of courage? My Chilton's Manual doesn't say. The make and model doesn't matter here because I am interested in the procedure for removing and replacing the actual seal. The seals are basically the same for all engines and I already know how to get to its location. I took off the timing belt and gear on the crank when I replaced the water pump. It's not big deal. I've done it before. One of the water pump bolts is located behind the gear and its housing. The gear had to come off. It is a front wheel drive but the engine compartment is so big, I could hold a wedding reception under the hood. I don't need to remove the engine. My love ♥♥♥ and sincere thanks to Sam Hill Esquire for your straight-up answer. I appreciate that you didn't assume I was incapable or stupid just because I am a girl. While I love to wear slinky short skirts and strappy Italian high heels, I can also replace a head gasket if needed.

why are my crankshaft and camshaft sensors not getting a connection? i have a 2003 olds alero V6 3.4L. my car dealership told me that i have a hard time starting it because the camshaft and crankshaft sensors are not getting a connection so i ahd them replaced and it did not take care of the problem. i have a hard time getting it started mainly when it is warmed up or is warm outside. it will crank & crank and then all of a sudden start. what else would be causing them not to get a connection?
Which direction the crankshaft center bolt shall be turn to loose? I try to remove the crankshaft pulley on my 1996 Mercury Villager for replacing the timing belt. I read many tips on the web how to remove it. But no one (nor the repair manual) tells which direction to turn. From an engineering perspective, I would think it shall turn counter-clock wise (facing the wheel) to tight. Could anyone tell me which direction to turn to loose the bolt? Thanks in advance.
Does my 96 Caravan have a crankshaft position sensor? I have a 96 Dodge Caravan with the 3.0L v6 engine. Autozone.com lists an independent crankshaft sensor for it. Other people say it is integrated with the distributor. The autozone guide says that it is the CAMshaft sensor integrated. So, what is the actual situation with this? And if it is independent, where is it located?
How to remove crankshaft pulley from ford contour? Ok so I got the bolt out, but I can't seem to get the pulley off. Im not sure if it is just suppose to pop off. I figured it was wedged on and I will possibly need a puller. Im not sure any helpful hints would be nice.
